Can a car fuse change cause a engine light to come on?

I have just changed my cd player in my car and I blew a 5amp fuse. I put a 10 amp fuse instead.

Now around 15 minuets after that my engine light lit up on my dashboard and it won%26#039;t go off. Could this be down to the fuse?|||not likey but could be how to install cd player|||First of all if you blew a 5 amp fuse why did you put in a 10 amp fuse? you do know that the wire load for the 2 is different right? If you just change the fuse size and not the wire size you are setting yourself up for a fire. Unless you tapped into a wire you shouldn%26#039;t have then the 2 wouldn%26#039;t be related however you didn%26#039;t say what the code is, so i can%26#039;t tell you for certain. Is the car running any different? the car could have run and failed a evap test, check your gas cap make sure it is tight.|||No it should not have set a code with the proper fuse replaced. But using a over size fuse can. There was a reason the fuse blow out. It was use more than the system was rated for. By using a larger fuse. You have over load that wiring set. It depend which fuse you tied into for the cd player. It depend how many amp this cd player takes. Use five amps are used for keep the computer a live when the vehicle is turned off. By adding a larger fuse. The computer could be get to means volts and amps. This will damage the computer. You need to have a computer test done. If what I have said, is true. You get a read of to much voltage or amps going to the computer. This will burn up the computer in time. There is one other thing that could take place. It could burn up the wiring and catch the vehicle on fire.|||PUT THE 5 AMP FUSE BACK IN!!!!! never ever ever just put a bigger fuse in to fix a problem. youre just asking for trouble. you have a short or something somewhere. FIND IT! after you have fixed that problem, check all your wiring for your cd player, make sure you didnt splice into any wires not related to the audio system. as for the light, that short probably tripped a sensor and brought up the light. have an auto parts store or a garage run a scan tool on your car to get a code and see what is wrong.|||Get that 10 amp fuse out of the fuse box and find your wiring

mistake. You should never up the fuse rating or you could wind

up with a meltdown..

Try disconnecting your stereo , replace the 5 amp fuse and check

your dash again..

Something was wired improperly...

Good Luck to you...|||You have damaged some wiring and you will need a proper auto electrician to sort it for you if it is a modern car with a can-bus wiring system|||it should,nt but you should,nt put a bigger fuse in because you could overload the circuit and cause a fire.
