2002 Ford Exp. making a clanking noise in back of truck. What could it be?

It's on the driver's side far back panel where you change fuses for back lights. It makes a noise as if a belt is loose, then suddenly it stops but a few days later it comes back.

I've never heard a loose belt make a clanking noise. Make sure your jack and stuff is stowed tightly.
