Cooker keeps tripping switch, fuse keeps blowing ?

My cooker tripped the consumer switch yesterday and it wasnt even on although it was plugged in and the mains. i changed the fuse and it keeps tripping the switch. Any idea what the problem may be? I have a stoves sterling 1100G. help appreciated

if the cooker was switched off at the time.. you've got a dead short to earth.... switch off the mains and get a look around the back.. look for a frayed wire touching the frame of the cooker.. theres a box that the wires go into at the back.. check that the wires aint touching together. but make sure the electric feed is switched off before you touch it again
your problem is the plug or the socket is going to earth.get some one who knows about these things.you should never mess about with electrics.


Sounds like you have an RCD somewhere which is detecting a leak to earth. Did you spill any water in/around the cooker yesterday?



Turn the cooker off at the wall switch and leave the oven doors open to dry off.
