My passenger headlight keeps blowing the fuse every week. Can it be the wiring?. How can I solve this problem?

I have a 2000 chrysler 300m. I change the fuse and the headlight will work for a lil while and then one day it stops working. I know it blows a fuse because I bought one of those smart fuses that light up when a fuse is blown and it lights up every couple of days. It just started doing this like 2 months ago. What can I do without costing me an arm and a leg like the dealer was trying to charge me?

Pull of the electrical connection to the back of the headlamp. Clean the back of the headlamp between the prongs and clean the surface of the plug you just pulled out. Perhaps there is a salt trail between them and it is cross shorting. Also inspect inside the motor around the fenders. You are looking for black wires that are screwed directly into the sheet metal(grounds) perhaps there is a broken wire someplace?

It could be water somehow building up in your headlight or getting to the bare wire somewhere. Usually the headlight bulb will go first, depending on the type of bulb, then the fuse. If you do see water puddling in your headlamp, take a very small drill bit and put a tiny hole in the bottom of it. That should take care of the problem (if that is the cause). Good Luck!
check the light socket. it could have a short.
the reason for most electrical faults are the ground but that isn't the case for this this sound like a short in wire i would take a light test and or multi meter to test continuity to find a separation in wire also check casing of wire to make sure of bare direct short to frame
is the head light switch mounted in the dash or on the turn signal? chrysler has had alot of troubles with dash mounted headlight switches. the tend to overheat and melt the connector where it plugs into the switch. ussually they are eassy to take apat to check. if that looks ok and you suspect a wire short the best way to check it is to turn th lights on with a good fuse and move and pull n the wires that go to the lights. ussually if there is a short it will blow the fuse when you get to the area of the wiring that is bad. if the car has ever been in an accident start with the wiring on that side. oh and I have never seen a loose ground or a salt trail? cause a fuse to blow. good luck.
